Questions?
General Project Questions
Originally built in 1917, Camp Randall is the fifth oldest football stadium in college football. Renovating the south end zone of the stadium continues to keep Wisconsin competitive through maintaining and upgrading its facilities to help attract and retain high quality coaching staff, student–athletes, and its ticket buying fan–base.
Additionally, Camp Randall Stadium currently doesn’t have the ability to provide premium seating in the main bowl. A 2016 market study and current premium seating waiting list demonstrates the demand for additional premium seating at Wisconsin Football games and provided the foundation for this renovation project. Our fans increasingly expect high level services and amenities when visiting our athletic facilities and the additions and improvements to the south end zone will greatly impact the fan experience and help provide memorable game days for a long time to come.
The renovation will create revenue streams that will help provide support and service to student–athletes in all 23 Badger sports.
The project will be funded with a combination of state bonded dollars, privately fundraised dollars and dollars associated with new premium seating.
Pre–construction work has already begun, with the majority of work beginning at the conclusion of the 2021 football season. The new seating and hospitality spaces will open for the Fall 2022 football season.
Careful consideration was made to create a new design that harmonizes with the existing structure while creating a new identity for the south end zone. The CR Future project modernizes the fan experience, continues to push the University forward, and adds to the legacy of Camp Randall Stadium and the UW Field House. The ultimate goal architecturally is to maintain the character and complement Camp Randall Stadium's image while modernizing its facilities.
